California man arrested by Mesa County Sheriff’s Office for computer fraud operation
25-year-old Youbin Huang is facing three felony charges
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -A California man was arrested by deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for allegedly running a computer fraud scheme.
MCSO was initially alerted about a computer scam in May 2025; a victim had reported that they had been contacted by someone claiming to be a representative with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), who told the victim that their bank account had been compromised, and that they needed to follow a set of prompts to secure it.
The victim followed those prompts— which included mailing $11,000 in cash to an address in southern California.
The victim eventually decided to stop that shipment, but when it arrived at its initial shipping point— which was in Grand Junction— a man bearing documents with the victim’s identifying information picked up the mail.
MCSO Property Crime Unit investigators were able to identity the individual who took the mail as 25-year-old Youbin Huang of El Monte, California. Through its investigation, MCSO also determined Huang was heavily involved in the perpetuation of the scam.
In February of this year, a nationwide warrant was issued for Huang’s arrest. California State Patrol arrested Huang, and on Wednesday he was brought to Grand Junction where he was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Huang is facing the following charges:
- - Fraud- identify theft, Felony 4
- - Computer Crime - scheme/defraud - $5,000-$20,000, Felony 5
- - Theft - $5,000-$20,000, Felony 5
MCSO said no other information on the case is available at this moment.
