GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) — Montrose Regional Health has recently expanded its cardiology department to provide services at seven locations across the Western Slope, including outreach clinics in Delta, Gunnison, Cortez and Telluride.

The hospital has added new providers to its cardiology team in the last year as part of the expansion effort.

Hospital officials said the growth of cardiology services is especially important in rural communities.

“There aren’t as many providers. There aren’t as many locations. Services and care is not readily available,” said Jenn Funk, cardiology service line director at Montrose Regional Health. “So, it’s important to us that we’re supporting these outreach locations, these rural areas.”

The hospital has also upgraded its technology, investing in equipment that includes the ARTIS icono angiography system, which provides detailed vascular imaging to help identify and treat cardiovascular conditions, and the ZOLL AutoPulse NXT Resuscitation System, an automated CPR device that delivers continuous, hands-free chest compressions during cardiac emergencies.
