Some of the best local baseball talent takes all-state honors

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Colorado High School Athletics Association released their all-state teams, and the Western Slope is well-represented across almost every classification.

In the 5A ranks, Fruita Monument’s Josh Weaver took home second-team honors. Weaver was the Southwestern League pitcher of the year, posting a 6-1 record and a 1.52 ERA.

In Class 4A, Palisade continues to prove they are a state powerhouse. The Bulldogs finished fourth in the state this year.

Senior outfielder Hunter Howard, the Southwestern League player of the year, snagged a first-team spot after hitting .463. He tied for the team lead with six home runs. He is joined on the first team by his teammate, pitcher Danyel Ishida-Farmer, who threw nearly 60 innings for the Bulldogs this season with a 3.68 ERA.

Palisade also saw Kian Kinslow make the second team after hitting .395 with 11 doubles, while Dylan Larson earned an honorable mention.

In Grand Junction, two-way standout Andrew Henderson earned second-team honors. He posted a 1.53 ERA on the mound and a .437 batting average with nine doubles at the plate. Fellow Tiger Sean Witt earned an honorable mention after leading his team in triples and home runs.

In Class 3A, Delta’s Landon Kennell was named to the first team. He led the Panthers with a .493 batting average and a 1.68 ERA on the mound. He is joined by teammates Gage Lehrman and freshman Mack Lockhart, who both earned honorable mentions.

In Class 2A, North Fork junior Konnor Crawford and Olathe junior Bryce Good both took home honorable mention honors.

In Class 1A, Nucla had two juniors representing the Western Slope as honorable mentions, Jackson McCabe and Cole Bray.
