COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) - A Missouri college student is facing charges after he allegedly strangled a victim who had blocked him on Snapchat.

Maxwell Warren, an 18-year-old student at the University of Missouri, faces charges of first-degree burglary, two counts of felony domestic assault and one count of misdemeanor domestic assault.

A probable cause document alleges Warren had been blocked on Snapchat by a victim Sept. 26. He then showed up uninvited to the victim’s room in a university residence hall, pushed them against the bed and put his hands around their neck, strangling them. He demanded the victim add him back on the social media platform.

The court document states the victim took a picture of the red marks imprinted on their neck after Warren left.

Two days later, Warren messaged the victim on Instagram, saying, ”I remember getting really upset once or twice when I choked you. I feel awful u deserve so much better," according to court records.

But two days after that, Warren told the victim on Snapchat he would choke them and beat them up, the court document states.

In late October, Warren wanted to meet with the victim again. They let Warren in the dorm room, and after his advances were denied, Warren grew frustrated and strangled the victim again until they lost consciousness.

He was arrested Nov. 4 and pleaded not guilty in his arraignment hearing the next day.

KRCG-TV reported the university said Warren is no longer allowed on campus.
