Opening night at the Asteria Theater
The theater celebrates its grand opening
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Asteria Theater at Colorado Mesa University held its grand opening event on September 27.
“It’s something we’ve been waiting for a really long time, to have this type of theater here on the western slope,” said Kelsey Coleman, public relations director for CMU.
Residents from all over Mesa County came to celebrate and watch the theater’s first show, “Amadeus.”
The event was labeled as an, “elegant red carpet affair.”
“We’re dressed up, we’re ready to watch a fabulous show and just be with one another,” said Coleman as she prepared to enter the new auditorium. “This theater would never have happened without the community support. It’s been something we’ve been wanting for a long time, so it took a lot of work from students, faculty, staff, and community really advocating to bring it here.”
