Sheriff’s office obtains arrest warrant for man suspected of killing Grand Junction resident
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announced Monday afternoon that they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Frank W. Kurtz, in relation to the shooting that killed 36-year-old Marcos Bencomo of Grand Junction.
The MCSO says the warrant is for charges of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Additionally, MCSO says that investigators are still looking to speak with Charity E. Perschbacher as a person of interest in the incident.
Kurtz is described as a 56-year-old man, 5′10″ and weighs 175 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and visible tattoos. Perschbcher is described as a 37-year-old woman, is 5′5″, weighs 200 pounds, and has hazel eyes. Both are considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting occurred on Jan. 21 in a neighborhood off of White Ave. near 32 3/8 Road in Clifton.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Bencomo with a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.
