Pedestrian struck, killed by highway patrol vehicle

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on March 18, 2023, officers responded to the 900 block of Carolina Ave. after a report came in of a man threatening others with a firearm. The man was detained and brought into the Mesa County Jail.

Kids at Fruitvale Elementary School hit the trails instead of the slopes and learned about a different kind of skiing.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office reports that the vehicle found matches the description and license plate of Grand Junction woman Melissa Gonzales, who initially went missing on November 15, 2022. A body was found inside the vehicle, but the identity has not yet been confirmed.
