MESA COUNTY, Colo.-- Main Street in Grand Junction was flooded with customers shopping locally to local businesses for Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday, which is about six-year-old, falls in between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It gives customers the chance to move away from the larger chain stores, and find great deals locally, which ultimately helps give our economy in mesa county a big boost.
The smell of local restaurants cooking up menu masterpieces filled the air as shoppers looked through the many shop windows.
Investing in the local economy while finding what you need is the added benefit to shopping locally, rather than going to major chain store or making purchases online.
"The most important about being a small business is that we can offer the customer service that we do to our customers," said Matthew Cesario, the General Manager of Triple Play Records. "Any specialty giftshop in downtown Grand Junction, you can find someone that is very knowledgeable about the product they sell."
Plus, Cesario said, it gives shoppers the opportunity of meeting others and getting involved in the community.
"All the money spent here in Triple Play Records stays within the community so that's very good for our local economy," he said. "Anything that you spend here at the shop will stay amongst the other businesses here in the Grand Valley."
Some businesses will have deals on Cyber Monday in order to encourage everyone to shop locally.
