FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Fruita High school will be sending off three Wildcats this year. Carson Crone will be attending Park University in Arizona to play baseball, Laurel Storheim signed to Southern Virginia University to play soccer and Dylan Weaver will head to Northeastern College to play baseball.
All three are excited for their next chapter but each see this opportunity in different lights.
"Feels awesome. It's been a dream since I was eight years old," said Carson Crone. "I've always just wanted to be like I want to be on the news, I want to see my name on the news. Now it's going to happen and I couldn't be more excited. It feels amazing. like i said, I can't be more excited. All the work I've put in, it finally pays off."
"I value my education a lot more than athletics, so a D-III school allows me to be a student before the athlete which is really cool," Laurel Storheim.
"Feels pretty great. I have all these people here, all this support," said Dylan Weaver. "Everyone that has seen your process of what we've come to. I think it's just really great having everyone support you, they want to be here with you. They want to see you succeed and to be able to say I'm going to play college athletics, I just think that's really great."
