As we draw towards the end of winter sports year, the top wrestling teams have solidified their spots through the grueling regular season and are now looking ahead to state tournament time.

For the Tigers, that future is looking very bright.

Grand Junction sits at number eight in Class 5A and boasts some of the toughest individual wrestlers in the state.

All that's standing between them and a state tournament berth is a solid showing at this weekend's regional competition.

All roads lead to this qualifier, and it’s something that Head Coach Cole Allison says his team ready for.

“You know, this is the part of the season that we train all year for, all offseason for, so really we are just going in, good mindset knowing the season is kind of resetting now kind of 0-0. Everything you’ve done up to this point gets you here. It’s pretty easy to keep them focused on this week because you know you can’t win a state title on regional weekend, but you could lose it, so the goal here is just wrestle as hard as you can, get in the top four, and qualify,” says Head Coach Cole Allison.
