HS Softball: Fruita wins fifth conference game on senior night

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) After trailing 3-2 in the second inning, Fruita Monument made a comeback and got a 9-5 win on senior night.

The Wildcats got out in front early when the grounder hit to third went into the outfield on the throw to second. One run scored on the Kylan Dickerson hit to make it 1-0 Fruita. Later in the inning, a pop fly scored Dickerson to make it 2-0 heading into the second.

Grand Junction had a big inning as Emilie Angel punished the softball to the centerfield wall and scored two on the triple to tie the game at 2-2. Jordan Stephenson would bring home Angel with an RBI single to left.

Fruita Monument would make a comeback and defeat the Tigers at CMU Softball Field. The Wildcats are now 5-1 in league play. Fruita will play at Montrose on Tuesday. Grand Junction will play at Central.
