HS Softball: Fruita dominates at the plate, wins 18-3

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Fruita Monument brought out the big bats Tuesday afternoon and crushed the ball in a 18-3 win over Montrose.

The Indians struck first with an RBI double by Kennadie Minerich to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Fruita responded by scoring five runs in the home half. The Indians fired right back scoring two runs in the second to close the gap making it 5-3. The Wildcats put the game on ice scoring nine runs in the second inning en route to a game finished in three innings.

Fruita is 3-0 in league play and will play at Columbine Thursday. Montrose loses their first league game. They will host Grand Junction next week.
