Grand Junction sophomore Gracie Olkowski hit the go-ahead three-pointer with under a minute to go to propel the Tigers to the 39-34 win over Central.
"I just had to stay confident and know that I could make that shot," said Olkowski. "My team helped me with the assist and everything. So I just had to be confident in it."
Olkowski also hit a pair of free throws to put the Tigers up five with just ten seconds to go.
"We just keep believing in Gracie and just keep believing it," said head coach Sam Provenza. "We keep telling her 'you got to start believing in yourself.' There was a point where I don't know ow many shots she missed and she looked at me she said 'should I keep shooting?' I said 'yes, you keep shooting. I believe in you now you need to start believing in you.' And I thought she did at the end of that game. I'm so proud of her."
The win gives Grand Junction their first Southwestern League victory this season.
Central remains winless in SWL play at 0-4.
The Tigers will host Durango on Friday at 5:30 P.M.
Central hits the road to take on Montrose on Friday at 6 P.M.
