MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Montrose football graduated three of their top offensive threats from last season.
Quarterback Caleb Egbert and running backs Sam Collins and Cade Atwood won't be in uniform when the Indians open the season against Central on Friday.
Collins and Atwood combined for almost 50 percent of the team's total rushing yards last season.
"We definitely don't have much experience," said senior wide receiver Cauy Boulden, "We're really conditioned. We are ready to go out and play tough."
More than half of the Montrose roster is underclassman. It's their first chance to impress the coaching staff.
"It's been a lot of fun to get them ready.," said head coach Brett Mertens. "They've been working really hard buying into the team culture. We're just ready to go. We're young and a little inexperienced overall. But we got some talent and I'm excited to watch those guys play and see what they can do."
Montrose and Central kick off at 7 P.M. on Friday at Stocker Stadium.
