HS Football: Tigers look for quick start against Fruita

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Grand Junction has lost three straight to rival Fruita Monument.

The Tigers will look for a quick start against the Wildcats.

In their last game against Liberty the Tigers had to score 22 unanswered to erase a halftime deficit.

A fast start is key for Grand Junction considering Fruita averages 216 rushing yards per game.

"That's kind of the same type of thing we'd like to do too is run the football and eat the clock." said Tigers' head coach Mike Sirko. "That's the only way we have a chance of being successful against them. They're going to be doing the same thing. Sometimes playing teams that look a lot like you are the hardest teams to play."

The Tigers are run dominant as well. They average 185.5 rushing yards compared to just 43 receiving yards per game.

Kickoff is set for 7 P.M. on Friday at Stocker Stadium.
