HS Football: Team grows from tough schedule

Grand Junction is 1-4 on the season. Three of their four losses came against a top ten opponent.

Fruita is No. 7, Skyline is ranked No. 10 and Windsor is ranked No. 4.

"We're able to see what top ten teams look like across the state," junior fullback Hunter Tobiasson says. "We're able to see what we need to compete with. We've played hard and have good things to take a part.and take away from every game so far."

The Tigers' only win came in their season opener against an unranked Central team.

According to the team a difficult schedule will help the program for years to come.

"Maybe not as much presently but I think for the future definitely," head coach Mike Sirko says. "Some of them are sophomores, a lot of them are juniors, that are playing some of the best competition in the state of Colorado at the 4-A level,. It definitely will make a difference down the road."

The Tigers will host Greeley West in their league opener on Thursday night at 7 P.M. from Stocker Stadium.
