HS Football: Fruita focusing on rivalry game

By  |

FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The No. 6 Fruita Monument Wildcats have dominated the rivalry games against Grand Junction over the last few seasons.

The Wildcats have won three straight games by double figures against the Tigers

"Anytime you have your crosstown rival it's always a big deal," said Fruita head coach Cameron Ross. "I went to Fruita so I know the importance of the Fruita-Junction game to our team, our community and our school. There's a little added incentive there, definitely."

The Wildcats are coming off scoring 38 points against Chatfield after combining for 19 points in the first two games of the year.

"We're a pound the football team," said Fruita senior quarterback Zach Rush. "We're going to go out, run our plays, do our stuff and not try and go out and be super human."

Kickoff is set for 7 P.M. on Friday at Stocker Stadium.
