HS Football: Central brings experience

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Junior quarterback Max Marsh feels much more comfortable stepping into the starting role with the experienced guys that surround him.

"We're all friends so we hang out with each other," said Marsh. "We all have good chemistry with each other. We go and watch film together. With them it's just like normal. Its just like playing in the backyard."

Central returns the backfield tandem of Anthony Zubiate and Cade Balleweg. Zubiate was the team's leading rusher with 567 yards and was tied for the lead in fumble recoveries with two.

Suanh Stepisnik is back as well. He was Central's leading tackler from a year ago with 112.

"I'm excited about the offense," said head coach Shawn Marsh. "Of course I'm excited about our defense. We got all those kids that have been starters since they were freshman. They've all worked hard this summer. They've all done all it takes to be able to give themselves a chance to be successful."

The Warriors open the season against Montrose at 7 P.M. on Friday at Stocker Stadium.
