HS Boys Soccer: Palisade earns first victory of the season, 1-0

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Palisade earned their first win of the 2019 season with a 1-0 shutout of Central on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs held possession for most of the first half. Sophomore Silas Ford showed off his footwork as he moved past defenders and had a few shots on goal. Central goalie Alejandro Jimenez was working hard in the net defending every shot Palisade threw at him.

With a little over 16 minutes left in the first half, the Bulldogs put the lone goal of the game in the net. Ford crossed it to the middle to senior Kevin Castaneda who punched it in to the right corner for the go-ahead 1-0 goal. There would be no scoring in the second half and Palisade holds off Central at Walker Field.

Palisade improves to 1-0-1 and will play Steamboat Springs on Saturday. Central is now 0-2 and will play Durango on Saturday.
