A big reason for the Panthers' success throughout the season and the playoffs, is Sophomore Pitcher/Shortstop, Jaspar Carmichael.

"Jaspar on the mound has been electric, he's wanted the ball in every big game. It's not that our other kids don't, but he's just that kid, you can see it in his eyes, he is going to compete"

- Steve Reiher

Head Coach, Delta Baseball

Compete he has, even after a quick shelling in the district game, Carmichael did not falter.

"I've said it all year long, he has icewater in his veins, even after he gave up that three-run homer he had a smile on his face....He was like gimme the ball let's go again."

- Steve Reiher

Head Coach, Delta Baseball

Genuine confidence from a Sophomore is hard to come by, but Jaspar's experience and drive isn't that of a typical Sophomore.

"I can feel myself getting better as a player and as a pitcher especially...started off a little rough but recently I've been pitching really well. That's what I'm out here to do, get better and play my hardest"

- Jaspar Carmichael

Pitcher, Delta Baseball

Coach saw the talent early, but he did have a former Panther who helped guide him to where he is at now.

"There were a lot of guys last year, one of the big ones was Derek Horn, Drakes brother. He helped me learn how to work hard and have what it takes to be that guy"

- Jaspar Carmichael

Pitcher, Delta Baseball

Being "that guy" requires stepping up when your team needs it the most. Jaspar's confidence in himself and the team, has made all of them stronger as whole.

"First time in 32 years Panthers have went to state.... this team is amazing right now, I've always wanted to play in big games"

- Jaspar Carmichael

Pitcher, Delta Baseball

"That says something, that's special, when you know they are full of confidence and guys get behind them and play.... that is something that you just don't see all the time"

- Steve Reiher

Head Coach, Delta Baseball

Delta's first game of the CHSAA 4A Tournament will be on May 20th, at Fredrick High School. First pitch is set for 10AM and they will be meeting up with the third seeded Erie Tigers.
