GJ Rockies: Rockies slug their way past Idaho Falls

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies returned home in a big way on Saturday night. The team put nine runs on the board in the series opener against Idaho Falls hanging on for the 9-5 win.

Alejandro Mejia started on the mound for the Rockies and had a short outing, allowing four earned runs in four innings of work.

Out of the seven hole Javier Guevara led Grand Junction offensively going 3-4 with 3 RBI's on the night. The win extends the Rockies lead in the Pioneer League South standings over the Ogden Raptors.

Game two of the four game series on Sunday is set for a 5:00 P.M. first pitch from Suplizio Field.
