GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) It was announced on Saturday evening that the Colorado Rockies had signed veteran outfielder Matt Holliday to a minor league contract. Holliday last played in the pro ranks during the 2017 season for the New York Yankees.
After agreeing to his new deal, Holliday arrived in Grand Junction Saturday night to begin a short stint with the Rockies. Before taking batting practice on Saturday Holliday said he is glad to be back with the organization where it all began.
"Jeff gave me a chance to come down here and knock off the dust a little bit. I was eager to get the opportunity to come back to the Rockies. I have a lot of great memories here and hopefully will get a chance to be a part of it again," said Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday.
