GJ Rockies: Late rally comes up short, fall 5-4 to Voyagers

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Grand Junction Rockies scored two runs in the ninth and had the tying run on third, but came up short losing 5-4 to Great Falls. They were looking for their third straight win against the Voyagers. Alex Haynes got the start for GJ. He gave up two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in four innings of work.

Christian Koss stayed hot at the plate hitting his second solo home run in two days with almost an identical flight path.

In the fourth, Great Falls took the lead. Harvin Mendoza hits a solo home run into the net on the scoreboard in center field. That would make it 2-1 Voyagers.

Great Falls would score two in the sixth and one in the seventh to go up 5-2. GJ rallied in the ninth to score two with an RBI double by Yolki Pena and a ground out RBI by Chris Navarro. The Rockies would fall short, 5-4 the final.

Grand Junction drops to 14-12. The final game against Great Falls in the series is Saturday at 6:40 P.M.
