GJ Rockies: Holliday excites, Rockies fall to Ogden

By  |

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Matt Holliday hit a loud RBI ground out to the shortstop in the first inning. It was one of the few Rockies highlights on Wednesday as Grand Junction falls, 17-5, to the Ogden Raptors.

Holliday went 1-3 with a eighth-inning double, a walk and an RBI.

Grand Junction's struggles came at the mound.

Trent Fennell suffers the loss going 3.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits.

The bullpen also struggled allowing 15 runs including a nine-run seventh inning.

The Rockies gave up 18 hits as a team.

As for Holliday, he will head to Triple-A Albuquerque.

"Nice facility, been able to come out here and hit, they have a nice cage and good fan support," said Holliday. "It's been cool to see a lot of Colorado people, obviously, Rockies fans. It's been neat, really nice crowds. Like i said, for a rookie-level experience i can't really imagine a better opportunity."

This was the Rockies last home game before the All-Star break. They fall to 25-21 on the season. The team heads to Idaho Falls for four games starting at 7:15 P.M. on Thursday
