GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) December 18 was National Signing Day around the U.S. and Central high senior Kole Taylor signed his letter to join Louisiana State University.
In July, the 6'6" senior committed to LSU. He said he liked the environment and he heard that they are changing their offense to feature the pass-catching tight end more. This season, LSU is the number one ranked team in the nation and will be playing in the College Football Playoffs on December 28 against Oklahoma.
In his final season with Central, Taylor had 25 receptions for 331 yards and five touchdowns. He also had one 50 yard run for a touchdown this season.
The four star recruit will trade the high altitude of Colorado for the humid environment in Louisiana and he couldn't be more excited to be a Tiger.
"It's taken a lot of work for me to get here, for me to have this opportunity to go up there," said Taylor. "Obviously it's all worth it in the end. It's awesome just knowing that you are going to go up there and compete against guys that will possibly be playing in the National Championship and guys that are at that level that are able to beat top ten ranked teams."
Taylor will report to LSU in January and if the Tigers were to beat Oklahoma on December 28, he will practice with the team before they would play in the National Championship on January 13.
"I can't thank everyone here enough. My teachers, my counselors, the principals. Everyone has put a little bit into this. They have worked hard for me to be able to graduate early and get up there early. I can't thank everyone enough. All my friends and family that have supported me this whole way and that's everything, that's huge."
