CMU Women's Lacrosse: Loecker named head coach

GRAND JUNCTION, Co. (KKCO/KJCT) Shanta Loecker was named the new CMU women's lacrosse head coach.

Loecker spent the last six seasons at Albion College in Michigan where she led a winless program to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to her time at Albion, Loecker coached UCLA's club program. She was named coach of the year in 2012.

Loecker takes over a CMU program that's made it to the conference semifinals.

"I know that it's a really great opportunity," said Loeker. "They've already seen a lot of improvement every single season and so it's really exciting to be able to step in and take over when there's so much positive momentum."

The Lady Mavs begin the season against Fort Lewis at home on February 17.
