CMU Women's Basketball: Mavericks defense propels them to top of RMAC

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU women's basketball is white hot winning nine straight including a dominating performance on Saturday over the RMAC's 4th ranked team Black Hills State.

As their wins continue to stack up, the Mavericks are getting everyone's best effort against them. It's lonely at the top but that is how CMU likes it and how they look to end the season.

To do so, they will focus on what they do well which is when they don't have the ball in their hands. They lead the conference only allowing on average 50 points per game.

"We have got to continue to get better and push forward," said head coach Taylor Wagner. "The more you win, the bulls eye gets a little bit bigger. I've been telling the girls the last couple of weeks, it's harder to win than to lose. Do we want that pressure? I know the girls want that and we want to continue to get better."
