CMU Women's Basketball: Duran earns RMAC Athlete of the Week

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks women's basketball team finished the 2018 portion of their schedule Sunday with their seventh straight win going undefeated in conference at 5-0.

Their senior guard Jaylyn Duran broke her career points record not once but twice this weekend and that got her RMAC Athlete of the Week honors.

Duran began the weekend scoring 30 points in the win against MSU Denver on Saturday. She then followed it up with a 32 point performance in the win over Chadron State.

The senior has led CMU in all nine games this season and is averaging 24 points per game. She is only eight points away from hitting 1,000 career points and she hasn't scored less than 20 points in a game this season, so she will likely hit that milestone in her next game. Duran also leads the conference in three point field goals per game at 4.1.

The Mavericks are off for the holiday's but if you want to be in attendance for when she does hit her 1,000 points mark, CMU will be home January 4 to host South Dakota Mines.
