GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) CMU women's basketball started the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic with a convincing 92-25 win over University of the Southwest from New Mexico.
The Mavericks began the game scoring 28 unanswered points and almost shut out the Mustangs in the first quarter. University of the Southwest scored two points with four seconds remaining in the quarter. CMU shot 62% from the field in the first quarter.
After taking a 44-14 lead into half, Mesa scored another 28 points in the third quarter. The Mavs, with the big lead, took the opportunity to cycle in all available players into the game and every player scored for CMU.
Kelsey Siemons led all scorers with 18 points. Kylyn Rigsby contributed 15 points in the win. 92 points scored is the most by the Mavericks in a game since November 25, 2017. The Mavericks will play Montana Western on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
