CMU Volleyball: Gilfert first ever Maverick to receive AVCA honor

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Kasie Gilfert has been one of the best players in all of division two and the American Volleyball Coaches' Association is taking notice.

She earned the AVCA player of the week for her performance in the two wins over the weekend. It is the first time in program history that a CMU player has received the honor

Gilfert had 44 kills, an average of 5.5 per set this weekend. She also averaged 1.1 blocks per set in the wins over UCCS and Colorado School of Mines.

The middle blocker has five matches of 20 or more kills which includes three of the last four matches.
