GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks volleyball season may be over but the historic play of this team is still being recognized at the NCAA Divsion II level.
Kasie Gilfert was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's NCAA Division II South Central Region Player of the Year.
She was also on the All Region team with junior Camille Smith.
Gilfert was named the South Central Region Player of the Year by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association last week, The first time a CMU volleyball player has received that honor.
This honor adds to her RMAC Player of the Year and MVP of the RMAC tournament distinction.
It has been well documented that Gilfert has led the nation in all divisions with a record .451 hitting percentage.
Next week, The AVCA All-America and National Player of the Year awards will be given out and Gilfert should be in the running for more honors.
