CMU Track & Field: Ellis named Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU redshirt junior pole vaulter Nolan Ellis was named the NCAA Division II Indoor Male Scholar Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

It's the first time in program history that a student-athlete has received the honor.

Ellis held a 3.64 GPA while majoring in business administration and marketing.

He also won the National Division II indoor title in pole vaulting after clearing 5.25 meters which matched his own school record.

CMU'c Michael Fera and Nathan Oglesby join Ellis on the All-Academic list. Sarah Cerrone, Lauren Lipski and Mekayla Winchester were selected from the women's team.
