CMU Softball falls in the RMAC Championship

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Game 1:
It was a tough one for the Mavs as they faced dixie state for the title. The Mavs couldn't get their bats on the ball and were scoreless in four innings. Starting pitcher, Kimbri Herring allowed three runs on seven hits and had to retire. McKenzie Surface finished off with one hit and one strikeout. Haley Hinson singled for an RBI to be one run shy of a tie. Mavs fall in game one, 3-2.

Game 2:
The Mavs got on the board in the third inning with an RBI double by Sarah Staudle. Surface pitched all six innings allowing six hits and three walks. The Trailblazers got a hold of the game with a 2-run home run in the third. Mavericks fell to the trailblazers 4-1.

"We were all a little frustrated. I think we took that frustration in a negative way. We just didn't string hits together like we usually do. We didn't make adjustments that we usually do. From here on out, we need to learn as a team to control our frustrations, control our emotions and just get better." Says Junior Center Fielder, Brooke Doumer.

Congratulations to Kaila Jacobi, Kellie Mrofcza and McKenzie Surface who have made the RMAC Softball All-Tournament Team.
