CMU Softball: Garcia leaves CNU, takes UNC job

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Ben Garcia resigned as head CMU softball coach on Thursday. He will be taking the head coaching job for the Northern Colorado softball team.

"Ultimately that's what really weighed on that decision is to move back closer to immediate relatives, brothers, sisters," said Garcia. "I'm from that Pueblo area. So it's a little bit closer,"

In four seasons at CMU, Garcia won three RMAC titles and made it to three NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournaments.

CMU also earned the No. 1 ranking after winning 37 straight games to open the season.

"I was really sick to my stomach having to leave my seniors and the kids who I recruited," said Garcia. "We have ten coming in. That was the difficult part."
