GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) Both the Men's and Women's Mavericks soccer teams went 1-0-1 last week and much of the reason why there isn't a loss is because of the great defense by the goalies.
The RMAC tabbed Brendan Brown as the RMAC Goalie of the Week. It's his second career RMAC honor after having 13 saves over the weekend. He was clutch in the win against Dixie State as he stopped the ball three times in the final two minutes to lock up the win and that included a penalty kick save. Against Westminster on Sunday, Brown prevented a game winning goal for the Griffins in overtime to hold onto a tie.
Earning her first RMAC Goalie of the Week was Kamrie Gunderson. The red-shirt sophomore recorded six saves in the two games. Gunderson had five saves and only allowed one goal to a Regis team that averages 2.1 goals per game this season. She held Black Hills State scoreless on Sunday for her second shutout of the season. Gunderson has 41 total saves this season.
