GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Last season, CMU went 11-17 overall while ending the season on a six game losing streak.
A new coaching staff led by first year head coach Mike DeGeorge brings in a new energy and a change in culture that has the Mavericks hopeful at the start of the season.
"Just being first year, you have got to decide what are the most important things to be good at," said Mike DeGeorge. "Then really stick with those things until you get good at those. Our half court defense has a way to go still so we are just sticking with that until they get that down."
"His main emphasis on this program has been trust," Senior guard Brandon Hoffer said. "We have just been trusting each other and it's a culture change and just a positive energy every time. Mainly have a growth mindset so we can learn from our mistakes and get better every day."
