CMU Men's Basketball: Pressure mounts a month from RMAC tournament

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks men's basketball team has split their weekend games the last four weekends and Friday CMU will have a difficult road trip as they take on the two Utah teams Westminster and Dixie State.

The RMAC standings are tight and the Mavericks currently are in a tie for fifth place. These schools are familiar with each other. Just two weeks ago, CMU beat the Griffins 79-59 in a game where newcomer Kenzo Nudo dropped 30 points. With the second go around against conference opponents, the pressure is heightened as the conference tournament is just a month away.

"They (Westminster) are three games below five hundred. If they win both they are right in the thick of it but with a loss they are in real jeopardy of not making the tournament. That is a huge mental challenge for us to come with the same kind of fight and determination the first time against them because we know we are going to see their best effort."
