CMU Baseball: Mavericks break 6-game winning streak

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Mavericks split a doubleheader Friday against New Mexico Highlands.

Game 1: The number one team in D-2 Baseball won 3-2 in 7 innings over New Mexico Highlands in game two of the series... Andrew Morris had a great outing throwing a near no-hitter before giving up 2 runs in the 7th.

Game 2: The Mavs fell behind in the fifth, 7-3. Bottom of the sixth, runner on second, Chase Hamilton, gives the Mavs some hope with a 2-run home run over left field bringing them closer 7-5. Hunter Douglas with a solo home run in the same spot for a one-run difference. In the bottom of the seventh, a strikeout by Trevin Reynolds to close the game. Mavs lose, 7-6.

Series Finale will be Saturday at noon.
