Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU Hockey and Air Force Academy compete in a game to raise money for HomewardBound Pathways Family Shelter Campaign.
The shelter will have 80 beds for men, women and children experiencing homelessness.
Last year, 9-year-old, Jaxson Sinclair, used his Christmas money to buy items for the homeless. Jaxson has been volunteering ever since and today, he was honored and selected to be a member of the Board of Directory.
Mavericks Hockey has raised a total of $40,000 in three years for Pink the Rink, for the Saint Mary Cancer Survivorship Program. Due to thier selfless acts, they've been awarded the 2018 ACHA National Community Service Award. The shelter is set to open Summer 2019.
