CMU Football: Mavs drop home game against Chadron St.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) No. 14 Colorado Mesa was outscored by Chadron State, 24-10, in the second half as the Eagles upset the Mavs, 38-34.

The Mavs led by three before Eagles' quarterback Dalton Holst found Justin Dickerson for a three-yard touchdown pass. It was one of nine catches Dickerson had on the day.

Holst was 26-40 with three touchdowns and 409 yards.

CMU quarterback Eystin Salum was intercepted by Tyree Fryar to seal the victory for the Eagles.

Salum was 22-35 with three touchdowns and 352 yards. It's the first time Salum has thrown for more than 300 yards in his career.

CMU wide receiver Peter Anderson recorded 11 catches for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mavs led 24-14 after the half.

Prior to the game CMU held a moment of silence for junior running back Brett Ojiyi who passed away Friday night after a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
