CMU Football: Mavs critical on turnovers ahead of homecoming game

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Colorado Mesa dropped their fourth game of the season this past Saturday to Black Hills State.

In the loss, the Mavericks had five turnovers, the most the team has had in a game all season.

Ahead of the homecoming game against Dixie State, CMU has put an emphasis on taking care of the football in practice this week.

“Turnovers are still the number one factor in determining whether you are going to win or lose and we turned it over in some critical situations,” said CMU head coach Russ Martin. “Our guys have to understand that we have got to take care of business. We've got to take care of the football."
