CMU Baseball: Mavericks hold on in home opener

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) CMU baseball had their home opener this afternoon hosting MSU Billings.

The Mavericks went into Friday's game 3-1.

Starting pitcher JR McDermott went six innings allowing one run on three hits and three strikeouts.

In the sixth inning, Dominic DeMarco hit a solo home run to give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead.

After losing the lead in the top half of the seventh inning, CMU responded scoring three runs in the bottom half as they get the win 5-4.

The Mavericks will continue the series with MSU Billings on Saturday and Sunday.
