CMU Baseball: Five home runs lift Mavs to RMAC tournament win

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The Mavericks earned the number one seed and will host the tournament through this week. In the first round, CMU played the six seed CSU-Pueblo.

Jordan Stubbings helped get the Mavericks jump started in the first inning with a three run blast over the left field wall.

In the third inning, CMU went back-to-back-to-back with solo home runs to take a 6-1 lead. Caleb Farmer, Haydn McGeary and Chase Hamilton all put the ball out of the park in left.

CMU extended their lead and got a convincing 11-4 win over the Thunderwolves in the first round. Freshman pitcher Andrew Morris started the game and allowed four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings.

Thursday, the Mavericks will play the four seed Colorado Springs at 3:00 P.M.
