CMU Baseball: 9-4 win gives Mavericks 40th victory of the season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) The freshly crowned RMAC champions played game two of the series with Dixie State Friday night on fireworks night.

The start of the game belonged to pitcher Garrett Hutson. He is hard to hit in his own right but the sun made it tough on the batters. Hutson fanned 10 in seven innings of work.

In the 3rd inning, CMU strikes. Hunter Douglas fakes the bunt and crushes the pitch to right field. It bounces off the top of the wall and over for a two run bomb. Douglas creating his own show on fireworks night. He went 4-5 with two home runs and five RBI.

The Mavericks win 9-4 and are 40-8 this season. They close the final series of the regular season with a double header with Dixie State on Saturday beginning at noon.
