GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Swimming is a sport that most people see as something fun to do during the summer months with friends, but Central graduate Jordyn Beem has dedicated herself to have the chance to swim at the next level.
Jordyn started swimming at a young age and she knew from the first time she stepped foot in a pool, it was going to be a great fit.
"I started swimming when I was around 9. My mom put me in swim lessons and I just loved it. I have been with it ever since,"said Beem.
At this point in Jordyn's swim career, she is looking to take her talents to the next level. To make the Colorado Mesa swim team she will have to cut her back stroke time from 1:08 to 1:05.
"She has the opportunity to take the next step in her career here. We have both talked to the coaches here. She knows what she needs to time wise to have the opportunity to swim here,"said head coach Ed Stehlin.
Jordyn and her Maverick Aquatics teammates will now have the chance to win medals at the upcoming state and zone meets within the next week. This provides Jordyn with a couple more opportunities to meet her time goal.
