When you are in college there is a million different things going on at once, but what Colorado Mesa hockey captain Chase Engdahl has done over the past 4 years is leave a legacy behind on and off the ice.
He is this week’s athlete of the week.
Chase Engdahl is not only the senior captain of the CMU hockey team, he’s also the main reason that “pink the rink” has taken off here in the Grand Valley.
"It’s great to see something that you put a lot of hard work into be successful. To see it all come together on last year then tonight as well it’s pretty special," said Chase Engdahl.
Chase has been with the hockey program since its first days and has
seen the team transform into one of the top club teams in the state of Colorado.
“It’s been great to see it come the whole way. I mean we really just instilled a really good hockey culture. We got some good leadership. Not just myself but some other veteran guys that have bought in what we are trying to do,” said Engdahl.
On the Western slope the closest thing you can get to hockey action is the Colorado Avalanche and Engdahl saw a great opportunity right here in Grand Junction.
The Mavs have two more games in the month of November. On the 11th they will be in Breckenridge to take on Metro State followed by a two game series against NAU on the 17th and 18th.
