Grand Junction, Colo. Carson Pipher is undefeated at home this season and scored a combination of takedowns winning 10-0 this past weekend. She is the Mavericks first-ever open champion of the Wayland Baptist Open, bringing her to 14-6 on the season.
"It's special, she's a leader in the room, leader outside the room, academically, socially. She's the girl that comes into practice regardless if she's having a bad day or not with a smile on her face. That energy is contagious. Carson comes in, the energy immediately changes, because her personality does that, she draws the best out of everybody." says Coach Travis Mercado.
Carson has a great college career to look back on. She was a part of both the women's basketball and rugby team and majored in history. Whether records are broken and championships are lost, Carson is just happy to be part of the magic.
