CMU introduces new head football coach Tremaine Jackson

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)- On Friday, Colorado Mesa University introduced its new football coach, Tremaine Jackson.

This is Jackson's first head coaching position. Last year, the Houston native was with Texas State as the defensive line coach.

His last position in Division II was at the University of Sioux Falls where he helped guide them to a combined record of 32-5 as their assistant coach.

Today, Jackson, a home renovator himself, talked about how this program is not a rebuild but a renovation. He says there is talent on both sides of the ball, and he hopes to use his past coaching positions to build a good looking football program.

“A lot of times when you take over a program, that program hadn't been very successful and there is not very much talent on the roster,” explains Jackson. “That's not the case here. I keep giving credit to Coach Martin because I think he did a really good job of growing talent and having talent and recruiting talent here. We just want to get some good looking sinks and cabinets and things of that nature to where the house pops because we know the foundation is good on the house."
