GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- World War II veterans were celebrated at the newly developed Veterans One Source on Friday.
The VA and the Western Region One Source partnered up to recognize the contributions of the men and women from the Western Slope who have served. Navy Veteran Orville Jones was the keynote speaker.
"We have the IDD's operator here, Volunteers of America are moving in, the VA homeless program is moving in, and we're just so excited to be able to provide services to our veterans, military members and their families,” said the Director of the Division of Veterans Affairs West, Joanne Iglesias.
This is the first year that The VA has held this event and they hope to continue it in the future. A total of 40 World War II veterans were honored at Friday’s ceremony.
