FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- An odd situation in Fruita; A woman is in custody after she crashed an SUV, but she didn’t stop there.
She then flagged down a school bus filled with District 51 students and managed to get herself on board.
Colorado State Patrol suspects the woman was on drugs, and then lied, saying she was a trainee with the bus company, according to Student Transportation of America.
Nothing happened while on board, and the woman was arrested as soon as the bus got to Fruita Monument High School.
"There were students on the bus, that is partially how we were able to find out that she was on the bus. We were text messages from students, and from different parents with that information," said CSP Trooper, Jordan Lamkin.
District 51 says their policy is to only allow authorized adults on the buses, such as drivers, school staff, and registered volunteers.
The bus company, Student Transportation of America, said the driver of the bus has been suspended, and the company is cooperating with the investigation.
